The Marble Delta is a unique limestone formation in the confluence of the Umzimkulu and Umzimkulwana rivers covering an area of about 40 square km’s inland of Port Shepstone.
The Marble Delta is the major source of limestone mined in KwaZulu-Natal and the limestone mined here is considered to be of the highest quality in South Africa.
Reserves of this rich deposit are estimated to be 300 million tonnes.
